A FIRST-TIME TOUR · 3 MIN

Welcome to VELA.
Here's what it can do.

Send files. Chat privately. Build automations. Everything is encrypted on your device before it leaves — no one in the middle can read it, not even us.

You're already set up — here's what just happened

Done

You have an identity

A permanent name only you can use. Encryption keys live on this device — they never leave it.

Display name picked.
Keys generated locally.
!
Save your password. Without it your files can't be recovered.
Optional · 1 min

Get the desktop app

Unlocks watch folders, auto-save, and background automations. One command. No admin rights needed.

1
Windows: open PowerShell, paste one line.
2
Mac / Linux: open Terminal, paste one line.
3
It quietly runs in the background.
Optional · 30 sec

Link your devices

Pair phone, laptop, and desktop so they all see the same inbox and contacts.

1
The app shows a 6-digit code.
2
In VELA, go to Settings → Devices and type it in.
3
Approve with your password — done.

Send · the everyday way

Drag, drop, send

Pick a contact and a file. We encrypt it on your device before it leaves. The other side decrypts it on theirs.

1
Pick a contact or paste their VELA name.
2
Drop your file. We encrypt it locally.
3
It lands in their inbox — only their device can open it.

Receive in the browser

Files arrive ready to read

No "click to download" dance. Open your inbox in any browser and they decrypt automatically on your device.

1
Someone sends you a file.
2
It appears in your inbox right away — and queues if you're offline.
3
Open it; the browser decrypts it and shows you the contents.

Receive · auto-save

Land files into a folder

Optional: have incoming files decrypt and save themselves into a folder on your computer. Set it once in Settings → Devices.

1
Install the desktop agent and link it (one minute).
2
In Settings → Devices, turn on auto-save and pick a folder.
3
Every file you receive decrypts and lands there.

Want files to send themselves? Install the agent.

It's optional. Everything above works in the browser. The desktop agent unlocks auto-encrypted folders, auto-save, AI rules that touch local files, and workflows that run when you're not at the keyboard. It's free, runs under your user account (no admin password needed), and links in 30 seconds.

Schedule, branch, notify

Workflows that trigger on a clock or an incoming file run on our servers — no agent needed. Filter, encrypt, send, branch, notify. Every step gets a tamper-evident receipt.

1
Trigger fires (schedule, incoming file, manual button).
2
Steps run in the cloud — fast, always available.
3
Receipt is written to the chain. View runs in the Workflows tab.

Watch folders & AI rules

Some things only your device can do: watching a folder, asking AI to look at the file's contents, moving files locally, calling a script. The agent runs these for you.

1
Build a workflow that uses local steps.
2
VELA flags it: "Runs on your device".
3
Your linked agent picks it up and runs it locally — encrypted in transit.

Send commands to your devices

From the web app, ping a device, run a workflow on it, pause one, or check what it's doing — without needing to be in front of it.

1
Go to Settings → Devices.
2
Pick a device and a command (run, pause, status).
3
It executes on the device and reports back to you.

How it stays private — in two columns

Stays on your device
  • Your password
Never sent. Never stored on our servers.
  • Your encryption keys
Generated locally. Used to lock and unlock your files.
  • The actual contents of your files
Only the sender's and recipient's devices can read them.
Leaves your device
  • Encrypted bytes — locked-up files
We hold them so the recipient can pick them up. We can't open them.
  • Routing info — who sent to whom, and when
Used to deliver. Recorded as a tamper-evident receipt.
  • Your public name
So others can find you and send to you.

No back doors. Even our team can't read your files — we don't have the keys.

What we promise — in five short sentences

PROMISE 01

End-to-end encrypted

Your files are encrypted on your device before they leave. Only the recipient can decrypt them.

PROMISE 02

Quantum-resistant

We use encryption that holds up against tomorrow's computers, not just today's.

PROMISE 03

You own your identity

Your keys live on your device. We don't hold them. We can't impersonate you.

PROMISE 04

Tamper-evident

Every transfer leaves a receipt that can't be rewritten — not even by us.

PROMISE 05

Invisible by design

The hard cryptography runs in the background. You see a clean, calm app.

That's the whole tour.

Now send your first file. The fastest way to get it is to invite someone you trust.
